Just a wee bit meta here - Mark Ramsey and I chat about the making of Inside The Exorcist podcast.

We cover:

Those are just a few of the questions answered in this “behind the scenes” look at the making of one of the hottest podcasts of the year. Series creator and narrator Mark Ramsey talks with the show’s amazing sound designer Jeff Schmidt. Sound effect library website A Sound Effect is a terrific resource for indie sound effect libraries which I use quite often. Beyond that -  It's also an amazing resource for behind the scenes interviews with some of the most creative sound designers in media - film, TV, video games - and now - podcasts!  

I was honored to share the behind the scenes of my audio work on Inside The Exorcist and a bit about Dirty John as well.

Inside The Exorcist Podcast Launches

My latest collaboration with Mark Ramsey is out in the world - Inside The Exorcist Podcast.  Mark wrote and narrated the 7 episode deep dive into the making of the classic film. I provided all Audio Design.   This is by far the most ambitious audio only project I've ever worked on.  Once you give the series a listen I think you'll understand why.  Mark doubled down and created scenes that I had no idea how I was going to create with sound.  It was an incredible challenge and I found myself disappearing into the work - a rarity for sure.

DIRTY JOHN PODCAST LAUNCHES

I'm excited and proud to announce the launch of true crime podcast "Dirty John"  - a collaboration between the L.A. Times and Podcast network Wondery.  The 6 episode series will be published in conjunction with articles in the L.A. Times.  I think people are really going to like it.   

I created Audio Design for the series which included the discovery and placing of several licensed songs - including an infectious theme song "Devil's Got Your Boyfriend" by Tracy Bonham.  Future posts will detail the Audio Design process for Dirty John.

Below is the trailer I designed which sold the group on using the Tracy Bonham track as a theme and the overall Audio Direction I would go on to create for the series.
